Play more games
This one can be interpreted in so many ways. It could be actual games such as scrabble, boggle or my favourite World of Warcraft (WOW), or it could be viewed as not taking life so seriously.
My kids must get sick of hearing this, but I always say “everything in moderation” I am usually talking about food when I say that, but I think it applies here as well.
When you go through life intent on only having fun or only working you get lost and loose meaning. There are outside forces that can help keep you balanced such as children, they help by keeping us close to the fun, animals also have ways to keep us playing.
Our children are both very busy, and they love to have us involved in their activities. My oldest daughter loves archery, and my youngest is very involved in hockey. I am so proud of both my daughters for their dedication to their own sports. Our two children bring so much joy to my life, and the love that I have for them is unbelievable. When ever I tuck them in at night I always say “I love you more than the moon and the” and they finish the sentence “and the stars”
We have a dog in the house as well, she is a Lhasa Apso, and she is 13! She has settled into a nice quiet life, but she loves to bring us her toys and play catch. There are times when she gets a spurt of energy and runs around in circles barking. We recently began fostering another dog, she is a Bijon Frise and we think she is about 6. She has tonnes of energy, and really needs to go to the park and play long range fetch. This really keeps us moving, because if she doesn’t get her park time she is very antsy.
I have spent a lot of time focused on my business this month, and without the kids, husband, and the 2 dogs, I could have easily spent all my time working. On the other hand without my business I could become to focused on hanging out and just having fun.
There are so many things that need our attention every day, I guess my main message is to make sure to balance everything, and along the way find joy in everything that comes your way. There will be set backs, challenges, and even hard times. These are the times where your true character comes through, where you get to choose your reactions. How do you choose to live your life?
