In this episode of Overgivers anonymous, we are talking about the cycle of the over-giver. When we are in a state of over-giving, we’re letting people step on us and disrespect us. We think that if we could just be nicer or if we could just give more, people who love us more. But in fact, you’ve heard the old adage before, “nice guys finish last”. If you are constantly giving and you’re not being responsible to your own self and to your own needs, then you are putting yourself last and you’re putting your business at risk. Your business won’t succeed if you keep working it like that. You can’t sustain constantly giving without ever learning how to receive either. You will burn out!
Here are some key places where you can see the cycle of the over giver showing up in your business. You might be working a lot of hours and yet you are still not making the money that you thought would be possible while owning your own business. Perhaps you know that you would like to take on more clients, you know other people in your industry who are able to balance more clients, but you just can’t see how they do it. One other way you might see the over giver cycle show up in your business is that you are in a constant state of feast vs famine! One month you are making money and the next you are scrambling to make ends meet.
No matter where you are in this cycle, I encourage you to think about what’s the one thing you can do right now to break that cycle so that you can start to move towards profitability and growth and loving the work you do on a regular basis.
