{"id":313,"date":"2011-06-06T16:30:24","date_gmt":"2011-06-06T21:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/geekygirl.ca\/?p=313"},"modified":"2020-03-03T16:16:24","modified_gmt":"2020-03-03T22:16:24","slug":"joy-is-the-theme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geekygirl.ca\/joy-is-the-theme\/","title":{"rendered":"Joy is the theme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I sat and wondered what I was going to write about today.\u00a0 I allowed myself to get out of the habit of writing, and this helped fuel the problem as to what to write.<\/p>\n<p>I found two videos that inspired me, the first one is from thefunfactory.com<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2lXh2n0aPyw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After watching this video I wondered how we could choose to find ways to enjoy our lives more.\u00a0 I know personally I am very focused on the tasks, and I can loose sight of enjoying the process.<\/p>\n<p>What can you do to brighten your day? What brings you joy?\u00a0 What will you do to enjoy living.\u00a0 I once heard a great quote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;we are human beings, not human doings&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This quote comes up from time to time when I need to hear it.\u00a0 Being present each day means turning off autopilot.\u00a0 How many times have you driven to a destination that you frequent, and once you get there you don&#8217;t remember much of the trip?\u00a0 We know how to drive there, we know the turns, the speed limits, and where the red light cameras are&#8230;. but do you see the people who frequent the bus stops? How about the people that walk their dogs at that time?\u00a0 We don&#8217;t see those things because we are on autopilot.<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow when you drive to work or another destination begin to see the people around you.\u00a0 You might even notice a beautifully planted yard that you have never seen before, perhaps it will inspire you in ways you never expected.<\/p>\n<p>As I write this I wonder if I should save the second video for another day, but I think that it speaks to yet another side of the Joy equation.\u00a0 The second video is of a motivational speaker.\u00a0 His message is clear.\u00a0 Be thankful for your life and what gifts you have been given.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Gc4HGQHgeFE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Every young person needs to be told they are perfect, that they are important.\u00a0 It is also important for those young people to believe what they are told.
