Angela: Welcome to the Overgivers Anonymous podcast. My name is Angela Mondor, also known as the Geeky Girl. In this podcast, we’re going to be talking about some amazing things to help you get over overgiving. And welcome to this episode of the Overgivers Anonymous podcast. I am your host, Angela Mondor. I want to talk to you today about inspiring your team, showing them how amazing they are. I am constantly excited and grateful for my team every single day. And there’s so many different reasons why but you know, I know that we have each other’s backs and important and part of that is the fact that we show each other how amazing we are.

And so, as the team lead, it’s really important, important for me to make sure that I am showing them how amazing we are. And so part of that is, in regards to motivation or inspiration, I want my team members to feel motivated. I want them to feel inspired by the work that they do. And, you know, creating that supportive and empowering team culture where everybody’s working towards those same goals is really important to us as an overall team as well.

And, you know, Being the team lead leaves me in you. You want to lead the way you want other people to also lead. I want everybody to become leaders in their own right inside the team. And if each of them are fostering inspiration within each other, it’s amazing what your team can actually accomplish. Obviously it’s important to recognize and acknowledge individual contributions to whether it’s a certain project or whether it’s just an overall day. It could be just, you know, something that they brought up that was of interest, or maybe it’s something that you know, there’s a new initiative that they brought to the table that’s fantastic as well.

So recognizing and appreciating their unique skills and their talents really important. And their achievements and milestones. I have one person on my team who is working towards their master’s degree. Like that is amazing. It has absolutely nothing to do with our business, but it’s amazing and something to be, you know, celebrated that they are taking these efforts in their lives to build this other piece of their life.

That is something in my mind as a celebration. So when things happen inside their lives, outside of the business, as well as things that they’ve done for the businesses, I think it’s really important to look at those as achievements and to celebrate those milestones for them also providing personalized feedback and the.

The feedback, here’s the deal. There’s always good and bad feedback, so there are times when you’re going to have to tell them something that maybe they don’t want to hear, or you’re going to have to say something that you’re, maybe it makes you uncomfortable. But when you keep those lines of communication open and honest when you do take the time to praise them and boost their morale for the things that they are doing really, really well, they aren’t just hearing negative things.

So it’s important for you to. Bring good things to the table. Like, Hey, thanks so much for thinking about that. Or love the way you thought about that particular piece. I never thought about it that way. Thank you for bringing that. It doesn’t take much effort to acknowledge their piece in the entire pie.

And so it’s important to bring these positive aspects to the table. Now you want to encourage collaboration. I always believe in that concept that you want to build a team so that you are not the hub. You’re not the one that everybody comes to. Just, you want to become a spoke on the wheel just like everybody else inside your team, and therefore you can create this collaboration and teamwork inside there.

When you cultivate that environment, that open communication, the idea sharing, you get to foster a sense of Unity and a shared goals among all of the team members and every single person on that team feels like they are able to come to the table with ideas, thoughts you know, inspiration. And, you know, we get to align our team objectives with the organization’s missions and our visions.

Now, here’s the deal. There are times when your team’s going to come to you and they’re going to Here’s this really cool idea I have, and you’ll be like, yeah, that’s a cool idea. That’s not where we’re headed right now. It’s not the direction that we’re going right now. I love your idea, but let’s table it for Q3, or maybe we need to put that on Q4, or maybe that’s the next year’s project.

Don’t say, oh, that’s shit, I don’t want to have that information in front of me, but instead acknowledge the fact that they are thinking about really cool ideas, but then also looking at those and making sure that they are. Aligning with your goals, your objectives, those kinds of things. Okay. So again, clear communication on that is really, really important.

So you want to also provide opportunities for skill development. So, maybe there’s some training that came across your desk that you think would they would value from, or maybe you saw a workshop that maybe they would like to attend any kind of resources. In fact, in our ClickUp there is. a courses section inside there where there are courses available for team members to take and sometimes I’ll actually send a comment, like I’ll actually assign them a task that says, hey, go through this course.

When you help somebody else uplift themselves, it helps to uplift the business. So it’s really, really important to offer those kinds of opportunities, encouraging them for continuous learning and growth and self improvement. Whether it’s for the business or not, if somebody comes to you and they’re like, Hey, I just started doing this amazing yoga retreat and I’m going to go do this every quarter.

Fantastic. And if it works for you, that’s great, right? Encourage them to be continuously learning and growing. My belief system is that a growing and open mind is somebody who’s willing to learn new and different things. And when you are in that space, then you are also in an inspirational space. You’re going to be thinking outside the box more often than not.

Empower them to take on new challenges and responsibilities. Check in with them. Hey, like, how are you doing in your role? Do you like what you’re doing? Is there anything else you see we’re doing that you would like to participate in? Give them those opportunities and empower themselves to stand up and say, Hey, I would like to help you with X, Y, and Z.

Now, I talked about this in the beginning, but it’s still super, super important is leading by example. You want to demonstrate your own self, strong work ethic and commitment to the team’s success, when they need you be there for them, but make sure that they understand that you aren’t the end all, be all to their needs.

If there is something that they’re coming to you for, To you for maybe they’re saying the same thing every time you can say, Hey, by the way, that resource is here. You don’t have to come to me for every time. This is where you can get the resource. This is where your processes and S. O. P. Is coming to handy because you can actually point them to those documents where they can get the information rather than making the hub.

Or you can say, Hey, lean on your team members for this information. You don’t always have to come to me making sure that you are giving them the example of leaning on each other. Lean on them as well. Okay, share personal stories of your own personal growth or things that you’ve had to build up in your life and in your business when it’s appropriate to their stories or their needs in what you’re talking about creating a positive organization, a positive space.

is also really, really important and being present with your team when it’s time. When you’re in a team meeting, be present there. Don’t be distracted with a bunch of other things. Be there to listen. Remember that whole, you know, listen to hear and not listen to respond, right? Seek first understand before being understood.

Really, really important there. That’s a Stephen Covey’s habit there. That one is one that is most difficult to learn and to apply just because that’s not technically how we’ve been taught to go about life and communication, but it is a very, very valuable skill. So when you want to cultivate your this culture of inspiration of support of, you know, this.

Showing people how amazing they actually are. Really think about how important it is to your team to inspire them. How important it is to show them how amazing they are. This will give you long term benefits in your business. If you have a motivated, inspired team, these people are going to actually add amazing things to your business.

By listening to them and hearing what they have to say, they’re going to see things differently than you do. And it’s really important for you to take that information in and to embody it into the business. And then it definitely will give you the ability to grow your business in ways you never even expected them to be.

So it’s really important as you are putting all of these little tiny pieces together to think about how you want to come across to your business. What type of team do you want? And do you want a team who’s amazing and wonderful and inspirational and who’s going to help you grow this business is something you never even thought possible?

If so, I’d go back and listen to a few of these things because I’ll tell you what, at the end of the day, this is the kind of team that I have seen grow businesses astronomically, created businesses that are amazing and powerful. So I hope you enjoyed this episode. If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to send those through.

Definitely want to send those to clientcare at geekycurl. ca. And until next time, I’ll talk to you later. Have a great day.

</details>
