Dare I say it&#8217;s a business asset. This statement doesn&#8217;t make you an asshole. When you think about your team being a business asset, I\u2019m not talking about seeing people as office supplies or robots&#8230;\u00a0 Think about your team as a massive benefit to you and your clients. Then think about how you can be a massive benefit to your team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Highlights:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s important for you to make sure that you have team members who are the \u201cright bums in the right seats\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the biggest problems that I see with business teams is that they contain people (who may be great people and can do great things), who are not working within their Circle of Brilliance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Team members also need to be really, really clear about your expectations of them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure that when somebody brings an issue to you that you are willing to actively listen.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seek first to understand, before being understood. Yeah, Stephen Covey!!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The reason why it can be difficult to truly listen is that our brains generally are trying to formulate an answer before the other person has finished speaking.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you hire somebody you are going to make sure that they&#8217;re the right person. You need the right bum in the right seat. Then you&#8217;re going to make sure that all expectations are clear on both sides. You are going to make sure that you invest in them.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you have your business set up properly with processes and procedures, and a system that you can walk your new team members through, it will cost you less to onboard new people and to onboard people into new roles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don&#8217;t have processes and procedures and systems in place it could cost more to onboard people.
